Stagecoach Hill Farm is a small, horse-centered service in New Hampshire where the Lakes Region meets the White Mountains. We offer training and support for riders of all ages who want to enjoy their horses safely and humanely in a positive, progressive environment. We will gladly travel to you and your horse. General Horseback Riding Instruction
We have a friendly, no-nonsense approach that emphasizes fun and safety for you and your horse. We offer lessons and instruction for riders of all ages. We can give you the basics whether you want to explore woodland trails, dance with your horse in the dressage arena, thrill yourself over cross country obstacles, or just go for an afternoon ride on the beach. We excell in hunter / jumper work and have taken riders to shows all over New England. Best of all, we will gladly meet you at your own barn so that you can develop the skills you need on your own horse!
Equitation Instruction
Riders at every level often need an observant, knowledgeable person to help them find a balanced, effective riding position. Equitation instruction -- on the flat and over fences -- is one of our specialities, and we would be happy to work with you. An effective riding position gives you and your horse confidence and grace. Let us help you find that balance.Specialty Work Over Fences
Many horses and riders can jump, but going over fences without the proper foundation is courting disaster. We have decades of experience in training both riders and their mounts in the proper approach to this exciting aspect of riding. Whether you want to be able to hop an occasional log across the trail, meet the steady challenge of a hunter course, or train for the rush and plunge of the jumper circuit, we can help you with time-tested techniques and exercises. Do you want to go to a show, but don't know which one? Do you know what a rated show is and if you're ready for one? If you were successful last year, what shows would be a good challenge this season? Which shows are mostly for fun and which ones will help you qualify for the next level? If you're confused by all the different classes, unsure of what is offered at particular shows or what all the different class names mean, we're here to help. Whether it's finding just one or two places to ride for the ribbons, or planning out an entire season to try to qualify for end-of-the-year points and awards, we have the knowledge and experience to get you to the right place at the right time.Show Preparation
Good show preparation means that you are oraganized and ready and can give your horse the attention he deserves. We'll teach you how to prepare correctly for a show experience so that you are confident in yourself and feel ready for the big day. We can help take the stress out of getting ready with grooming tips, packing lists, organization methods, etc. We'll help make every show as good as it can be.Support At Horse Shows
While we're not grooms we're here to let you focus on your horse, your courses. We'll handle registration, walking courses with you, making sure you're at the in-gate on time, keeping you hydrated, holding on to your ribbons -- all those things that need attention at the show. We'll warm you up, discuss your strategies, even hold your horse when you need to have a bathroom break. We'll shoot some pictures and video and critique them with you afterwards. We are not grooms, but we can help you find one.Make Show Ribbons Into Memory Quilts
What do you do with all those horse show ribbons? We offer a number of different designs and can customize a quilt made just for you out of your ribbons. What better way to hold onto those memories than to hang them on the wall as a quilt to look at or snuggle under them while you dream of -- what else? -- horses!Assistance Finding / Buying The Right Horse
To buy or lease? A younger horse or one with a few years? Does breed matter? With so many choices out there, it's important to have someone look with you, bounce ideas off, and generally add support. If you're the type who falls in love with every pony, or you're too afraid to settle after trying fifty-seven mounts, or you're a little apprehensive about the negotiating process, or you just don't know if horses are supposed to do that, then you'll benefit from our input.
